Cubelab Performs “perfect, eternal machinery”

In the Fall of 2024, Max participated in the CubeLab Composition Workshop, which culminated in a performance of his original work, perfect, eternal machinery. Scored for a quartet of clarinet, accordion, electric guitar, and percussion, the piece explores the consequences of totalitarianism and the dystopian logic of a fully mechanized society. Drawing inspiration from the visions of George Orwell and Aldous Huxley, the composition confronts the absurdity of authoritarian control and the erosion of cultural identity. Through fractured performance gestures, perfect, eternal machinery reflects a world where individuality is subsumed by rigid systems, ultimately revealing the fragility and dissonance that lie beneath such oppressive order.
