morning, city
Composed during the last year of the pandemic, morning, city overlays the soundscape of birds and the phenomena of wind emerging slowly in the morning into the activity of the city. The merging of recorded sounds of birds from my neighborhood with sound clips of the city awakening throughout New York City reflects the sounds of the city that became more and more distinct as the city returned. The piece starts out very reverberant and unclear, but over time, all the effects disappear and the listener is left with raw city ambience. The piece is purely comprised of modified sound clips capturing the reverb of bird calls that become more and more distinct as more of the original sound sources are introduced.
